Charlotte Flights and Hundreds More Canceled This Past Weekend
If you were at the airport this weekend, I am so sorry. According to various news reports, passengers, and airline crews, it was a hot mess.
Imagine waiting for your flight and then hearing over the loudspeaker, “It’s been canceled.” I’ve been there people, it blows. American Airlines passengers were stranded this weekend after hundreds of flights were canceled. This included several in Charlotte, North Carolina.
According to the New York Post, pilot and flight attendant availability were the listed reasons for cancellations on Saturday and Sunday. By 9:30 a.m. ET on Monday morning (November 1st) American Airlines had canceled 299 flights for the day and delayed another 187, according to data from aviation tracking site FlightAware.
According to CNBC, Seymour announced in his note to employees on Nov. 1 that 1,800 flight attendants would be returning from leave on Nov. 1, with another group expected to return on Dec. 1. This comes after massive staff cuts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you are flying American Airlines soon or any other flight, remember to check the status before you go! Though the CLT airport has been seriously revamped (they have multiple breweries to keep you busy) you still don’t want to waste your entire day just waiting around.
