Oh No! There Is A Shortage Of Halloween Costumes This Year
Have you been procrastinating planning and buying that Halloween costume? You could be in a bit of a bind as there is a shortage of Halloween Costumes and decor this year. After a 2020 season that was focused on spooky decor for your house and yard, people are flocking to buy costumes in 2021. With people planning parties and trick or treating returning more people are looking for just the perfect look.
But supply chain issues and labor shortages that are already crippling economies are impacting the holiday as well. Stores are unable to get the quantities of costumes in that they need to keep up with demand, especially for certain popular costume options.
Spectrum News spoke with the owner of Morris Costumes Amy Morris about that shortage. “Every store that’s into costumes are missing what I call ‘the new products.’ Products are ordered a year ahead of time generally, sometimes a year and a half ahead of time. They’re still on the ship, in port, waiting to unload,” Morris told the news outlet.
While shipments are still coming in daily they are bringing fewer items than normal making it tough to keep the shelves stocked for customers. If you can’t find a prepackaged costume this year you can consider renting one, using what you have at home, or making a trip to a thrift store to find items you need. Halloween may take a little more creativity this year due to the shortage of Halloween Costumes but that doesn’t mean it will be any less fun. Especially after last year!
