One Cash 5 ticket and $263,948 late a Mooresville man is one step closer to retirement thanks to the NC Education Lottery. Mooresville resident Gregg Richardson who manages a hardware store purchased the winning tickets at the Kangaroo Express on South Main Street. He was delighted to realize he had won when he matched all 5 numbers on the ticket.

Richardson claimed his winnings on Thursday at the NC Lottery Headquarters in Raleigh. According to Fox 46, he told officials .“It’s pretty awesome. I was shocked. I had to sit down, a little light-headed.” After taxes, the total he will take home is $185,745. He plans to buy a new home, pay off some bills, and save the remaining funds for retirement.

The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.
