The word sacrifice means an act of giving up something valued, for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy. Blessings will chase you down when your intention is to serve and give without selfish gain. When you sacrifice your time, God will replenish you with rest. When you give of your money and finances, He will bless you in return. Do not keep your hands closed tightly, instead, open your hands to give and watch God bless you abundantly with more.
Consider the woman who gave her last two pennies (mites). She was unable to give as much as others, but God saw her heart and was pleased at her sacrifice in giving of her last.
Luke 21,1-4:As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
The ultimate sacrifice we learn from scripture, in John 3:16,For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.God sacrificed His only son in order to redeem men back to him.
