Dave Chappelle Trailer Dropped For New Netflix Comedy Special
A new comedy special is arriving soon on Netflix, by the one and only Dave Chappelle.
The three-time Grammy-winning comedian just dropped his new trailer for The Closer, a stand-up special that is set to arrive globally on Netflix Oct. 5.
In a press release per Variety, Netflix and Chappelle’s relationship may have run its course as the synopsis for the special reads, “As he closes out his slate of comedy specials, Dave takes the stage to set the record straight—and get a few things off his chest.”
This is Chapelle’s sixth comedy special for the streaming platform following, The Age Of Spin, Deep In The Heart Of Texas, Equanimity, The Bird Revelation, And Sticks & Stones.
Back in 2020, Chappelle got very personal and released an additional comedy special on the streaming platform titled 8:46. The title of the special refers to both the time of Chappelle’s birth and the amount of time the Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd’s neck. In the special, Chappelle recalls the events that led up to Floyd’s death, his experience as a Black man in America, and also the unexpected death of his friend and beloved NBA player Kobe Bryant.
