Cam Newton Released By The New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have released former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. The Patriots drafted Mac Jones the rookie out of Alabama at No. 15 in the draft and intend for him to start. Netwon started last weekend’s preseason game and played two series with the starters. Jones then came into the game and played into the third quarter.
Newton struggled with injuries throughout his time in Carolina and led the Patriots to a disappointing 7-9 season in 2021. In Sunday’s game, the former No. 1 overall draft pick went just 2-5 for 10 yards and one interception.
