I'd like to think I have a pretty sophisticated palate, but never have I ever had a plate of $200 french fries!
That's what they are now serving at a New York restaurant called Serendipity 3 in Manhattan's Upper East Side. These fries are $200 a plate. Now I know you're asking, 'What makes them so special?' Here's why:
First of all the potatoes are scalded in vinegar and champagne. Then they fry them in pure goose fat - twice - so that they are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Then if that isn't enough, the potatoes are topped off with a sprinkle of edible gold, then seasoned with truffle salt and truffle oil. They are served on a crystal plate with an orchid, thinly-sliced truffles and a cheese dip.
