Memorial Day Closings In Mecklenburg County
Some 37 million people are expected to hit the roads for Memorial Day weekend in the U.S.. And there are many choosing to stay home. For those who do in Mecklenburg County, below are places and services OPEN and CLOSED Monday, May 31, 2021.
CLOSED –
- Mecklenburg County Offices and services (includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, the Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency offices).
- All Mecklenburg County full service Solid Waste Centers (this includes the Foxhole Landfill, North Meck Center, Hickory Grove Center, Compost Central and our Tire and Metals Center.
- Health Department
- CharMeck 311 will be closed May 31, 2021. Outside regular business hours, CharMeck 311 callers can report water, sewer, storm water and animal issues via an automated service that dispatches assistance. Residents can submit service requests online 24 hours a day or access city services by downloading the CLT+ mobile app. Please call 911 for any emergencies.
OPEN –
- The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).
- The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County towns may provide residential collection service on Memorial Day. Residents should check their respective collectors’ web sites for details.
Park and Recreation – Open, May 31, 2021
- Veterans Park sprayground is closed for renovations
- All other spraygrounds are open 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Eastway Regional Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
- All other recreation centers, senior centers, nature centers and indoor rental facilities will be closed on Monday, May 31, 2021
- Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will be open Monday, May 31, 2021: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
- Double Oaks Family Aquatic Center:
- Saturday, May 29, 2021: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. (Opening day)
- Sunday, May 30, 2021: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Monday, May 31, 2021: 11a.m. – 7 p.m. (Holiday)
- Parks, Nature Preserves and Greenways will remain open.
