Skipping TV Intros can Save you 30 Hours a Year!
I kind of like the intros of TV shows (but I also love infomercials) but apparently skipping them can save you a ton of time. Over the last year, many of us have had the opportunity to binge our all-time favorite shows. And whilst the intros may be iconic, we’ve all hit that skip button now and then. But how much time does it actually save you?
New research by Office Furniture Online looks at the TV intros of some of our favorite shows and how much time hitting skip actually saves you. It turns out, skipping intros could save you up to 30 hours per year. Imagine what else you could be doing at that time!
Delving even further into the research, the top 10 TV shows with the longest intros are as follows:
- Game of Thrones: 118 seconds
- The Sopranos: 98 seconds
- Dexter: 97 seconds
- The Simpsons: 86 seconds
- Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: 66 seconds
- American Horror Story: 60 seconds
- Gilmore Girls: 55 seconds
- Vikings: 51 seconds
- Gogglebox: 50 seconds
- Friends: 46 seconds
Meanwhile, shows found to have the shortest intros include The Office, lasting just 20 seconds, Brooklyn Nine-Nine at 21 seconds, and both Parks and Recreation and New Girl, joint with 22 seconds. Mark Taylor, Managing Director at Office Furniture Online, comments: “As many of us are still working from home, it can be difficult to separate home life from work time – and switching off to relax at the end of the day can be hard.
“The benefit of taking a decent break during your workday will help to reset your focus and lift your mood for the afternoon, so ensure that you’re sticking to your usual lunch hour time. “Fitting in an episode or two of your favorite TV shows can help ease the stress of the workday, and also curb the habit of eating at your desk, which can make your lunch hour not feel like a break at all.”
