She designed her own looks for last year’s Oscars and this year’s Golden Globes. Now, Nightly Pop host Nina Parker is making history with her plus-size clothing line on display at Macy’s. The line is the department store’s first ever plus-size line created by a Black woman.
Nina dished with E! News about the inspiration behind creating designs that curvy women actually want to wear:
“My stylist and I were trying to find stuff off of the rack and it just wasn’t comparable to my counterparts. It felt really unfair, like, ‘Yes, I am bigger than them, but does that mean I don’t matter as much because my waist is bigger?’ I was tired of trying to make things work.”
With 17-pieces ranging in sizes from size 16W to 24W, Parker hopes to help curvy women show off their vibrant flair through fashion. “I want them to feel bossy, like they can walk in a room and everybody will take notice.”
The affordability of the line ranges from $39 – $129 and includes tank tops, dresses, and denim that feature bold prints, fun fabrics, and of course sequins to shine bright. “If the quality of the fabric wasn’t up to par, I wasn’t doing it,” Parker declared.
The Nina Parker Collection will be available in Macy’s department stores and online on May 14.
