When was the last time you made a spiritual investment into your faith walk? You may be where you are today based on the prayers made by parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Pray in the good times so when trouble comes your way, you’re already wearing the full armor of God.
Luke 12:21, “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
REMEMBERING GOD IN THE GOOD TIMES
Often, I find that my thoughts are captivated by God when I am in the pit. When I am in need or despair it is easy to run to God and cry out to my Holy Father. Do you find that’s also true of you? Are you closest to God in your darkest moments?
BUT AS FOR ME, I WILL SING ABOUT YOUR POWER. EACH MORNING I WILL SING WITH JOY ABOUT YOUR UNFAILING LOVE. FOR YOU HAVE BEEN MY REFUGE, A PLACE OF SAFETY WHEN I AM IN DISTRESS. – PSALMS 59:16
It’s like our trials are a reminder that we can’t do life on our own. We can be plugging along in life unaware that we’ve forgotten God until WHAM! God smacks us in the face with a challenge and then we go crawling back to Him in desperation and regret for ever walking away.
WE ARE BASICALLY LARGE TODDLERS
Let’s be honest, we are basically like toddlers. “I can do it! I can do it! Me do it!” That is our daily cry, right? Until all of a sudden we fall down and scrape our knee and then mommy is the only person that matters in this world.
If you’re a parent, you know exactly what I’m talking about. And, as the parent, we just sit there and think to ourselves, “Child: If you just would have listened, if you just would have let me help you, it would have been so much easier.”
JESUS ANSWERED AND SAID TO HIM, “IF ANYONE LOVES ME, HE WILL KEEP MY WORD; AND MY FATHER WILL LOVE HIM, AND WE WILL COME TO HIM AND MAKE OUR ABODE WITH HIM. – JOHN 14:23
Do you think God thinks of us that way sometimes? Maybe He’s up there thinking, “Good grief, if only my children would remember that I’m HERE!”
“ Focus on the beautiful things in your life and all of a sudden, your life will be happier. Remember your life is ultimately a concept of what you believe. Choose to believe and it will be filled with more beauty”
