So, what makes a great song?
What would you say are the distinguishing characteristics of a great song? First of all, a great song has to have a fantastic tune or a truly memorable melody. Furthermore, no other song has the same or similar melody. Secondly, all great songs boast incredible lyrics. Some of the one-liners in great songs are simply unforgettable. Next, great songs are relevant to the listener. I have a special bond with all of my great songs. Great songs tend to remind me of something in my past, good or bad. Finally, great songs have endured the test of time. Unfortunately, newer songs are difficult to list as GSOAT because they have yet to withstand the test of time.
Naturally, older songs are going to dominate any GSOAT list. There are very few “instant classics” in any GSOAT list.
