We’ve had beautiful sunny weather these last few days. Whether that makes it easier to ignore the coronavirus spike that could be coming this winter and the election that could further divide the country no matter who wins, Harris and Trump’s visits Charlotte this week.
Over the last month, coronavirus metrics at the county-, state-, and nationwide-level have all worsened. As a result, Governor Roy Cooper announced yesterday that North Carolina will stay in phase 3 for at least three more weeks.
“We hope that greater enforcement, strong community leadership, and more people doing the right things can lower these numbers,” Cooper said.
UNC Charlotte public health professor Michael Thompson told the Agenda that things could get worse before they get better. We’re headed into winter and flu season, when people tend to spend less time outside and more time close together inside. This means after an already vicious year, families will have to decide whether to spend the holidays apart or risk spreading the virus.
