Between now and Halloween, Amazon will ship boxes with a new eco-friendly design. The design is a large white pumpkin on the side of the box. Customers that draw on the pumpkin and scan the nearby QR code with their camera phone will see the pumpkin drawing come to life through the magic of augmented reality.

Amazon says the new experience is a "low-cost way for customers to celebrate and a fun way to reuse boxes before dropping them in the recycling bin." Shoppers will need Amazon's AR app to use it. With the app, they will be able to create a customizable pumpkin.
Amazon has some 85 people on a team to find ways to improve its packaging. They say they want to bring attention to the ways it protects the environment. The company says their team is devoted to helping to reduce the environmental impact that shipping contributes to.
