Deadly Collision Between CATS Bus In West Charlotte
This happened right on a corner in front of my apartment complex where I walk every single day. When I saw blue lights flashing outside my window, I walked over to see what was going on along Morehead Street. As I came close to the main road, I could see a terribly smashed Toyota Camry and a CATS bus parked on the opposite side.
After several hours, WBTV finally reported what had happened on my street. According to their report, the crash had occurred just after 9 pm near the intersection of West Morehead Street and the street I live on, Millerton Avenue.
The crash happened between a Toyota Camry and a CATS Airport Sprinter bus and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is still investigating. The Charlotte Area Transit System confirmed a CATS vehicle was involved in the crash according to the article, and one person was confirmed dead. According to the report, the car had run the stop sign and struck the bus.
After learning this, I couldn’t help but feel so vulnerable since I walk that intersection each day. So many people drive so fast down that road, that a few weeks ago I was actually almost hit while turning into my complex.
Hopefully, we learn more about this developing story soon and my prayers go out to the family for their loss.
