Actress Tia Mowry recently sat down for an interview with Tamron Hall and shared why a Sister, Sister reboot hasn’t happened. When Mowry discussed the failure of the show’s return she mentioned that it couldn’t be rebooted due to legality issues.
“So many people are asking this question,” Tia replied to Hall when asked about the reboot. “Well that’s because we really love the show,” Hall responded.
“I know. We tried. We tried to do it but some rights and stuff kind of got into the way,” Tia continued. “Legalities?” Hall then asked. “Yes, legalities is why and it makes me sad,” Tia confirmed.
Sister, Sister, starring Tia and her twin sister Tamera Mowry-Housley, Jackée Harry, Tim Reid, and Marques Houston aired during the ’90s for six seasons. The popular show premiered in 1994 and concluded in 1999
“And then also we even tried to reboot The Game and that’s now not happening,” Tia said with a burst of nervous laughter. “I’m sorry. Reboots are just not,” Tia said before trailing off. In 2019, it was announced that The Game would be returning. As Deadline reported, the show that was based on a fictional San Diego football team and their wives, girlfriends, and partners was slated to return with an east coast setting.
While talking to Hall, Tia also discussed why she’s against body shaming and “bullying” women to lose weight after they’ve given birth. “I think I’m so passionate about it because I understand what bullying does to the psyche. There are children out there who are committing suicide because of words. And I have no time for it. Ain’t nobody got time for that,” Tia said.
