Other devices like the fourth-generation iPad are also affected, but they're only expected to lose GPS functionality.

(Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)If you're like my cousin and don't want to update the operating system on your iPhone 5, then you'll be stuck with a phone that doesn't really work -- at least the way it's supposed to. That's because Apple wants iPhone 5 users to update to their operating system to at least iOS 10.3.4 by midnight Sunday, November 3rd.
If they don't, you will lose the ability to use key online features like email, web browsing, the App store. NOT having the latest operating system also means NOT having the feature that allows you to get the correct date and time.
So, if you have an iPhone 5 you WILL see full-screen alerts warning you you will lose those key online features.
Now, in case you are the ultimate procrastinator and don't get the upgrade done, you'll just have to backup and restore your info to a computer if you intend to the newer software.
