Fashion Nova Sells Costume Inspired By Lil Kim’s Famous Purple Pasty From 1999 VMAs
You can now purchase a Halloween costume that is similar to rapper Lil Kim’s iconic outfit that she wore to the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.
Popular online boutique Fashion Nova is currently selling a costume that’s inspired by Kim’s purple pasty and matching jumpsuit.
The costume that’s titled “Crush On You 3 Piece Costume Set” comes with a lavender-colored asymmetrical jumpsuit alongside the matching wig and pasty.
It’s currently on sale for $47.99. It was originally priced at $79.99.
During the 1999 VMAs, a then 25-year-old Lil Kim wore a lavender jumpsuit that left her entire left breast exposed, which left her name on the tip of many tongues. Famous hip-hop stylist Misa Hylton was behind the look.
Lil Kim was fresh off the heels of releasing the video for her single “Crush On You”. When Kim took the stage, Diana Ross patted her pasty-encrusted breast before announcing the nominees of the show’s first-ever Best Hip-Hop Video award.

That moment between Ross and Kim “almost eclipsed” how eccentric the look was, as Vice noted in a recent retelling of the iconic moment.
Fashion Nova also has an Aaliyah-inspired and a Cardi B-inspired costume as well. The Aaliyah-inspired costume is titled “One In A Million 4 Piece Costume Set” and looks very similar to Aaliyah’s diamond-encrusted bra and black leather pants that she wore in her 2000″Try Again” video.
The Cardi B-inspired costume mimics the Bronx rapper’s outfit that she wore on the cover of her debut album Invasion of Privacy. That costume is titled “Money Moves 4 Piece Costume.”
