A Study Finds Uber And Lyft Drivers Routinely Cancel Black and LGBTQ Riders in 2019
This isn’t a good look.
A new study has shown that there is a troubling level of discrimination from some Uber and Lyft drivers. The study of 3,200 riders in Washington D.C. found the disturbing numbers. Passengers that had profile pictures of Black riders or percieved Black names were canceled three times more than white riders.
In addition, profiles that had a rainbow flag connoting the riders were LGBTQ or LGBTQ supportive saw their ride-shares canceled twice as much as those without the symbol. Twitter riders are not happy about this.
