Celebrating The Life And Legacy Of My Friend LaShawn “Big Shiz” Daniels, Rest In Paradise Brother [Video]
Remembering A Legend LaShawn “Big Shiz” Daniels
Yesterday was a very hard day for me. After I left the radio station I went to the funeral of my friend and very talented writer, producer, singer, father, friend, brother and all around good man. LaShawn Daniels who passed away in a car crash last week. When receive the news I felt numb all over, just to think we just hung out together at a wedding laughing all that night which was just a few weeks ago.
The service was the most beautiful memorial I had every been to. My pastor Steven Furtick preach on Big Shiz being a legend, referring to him as a super hero whose hidden power was to be invisible, not desiring the spotlight. But his desire was to make other people great!
The music and the video was heart melting and every one in the church felt the presence of LaShawn in the room as many family friends, celebrities spoke and paid homage to an amazing man. With singers like gospel greats Tasha Cobbs, Isreal Houghton, Kirk Franklin, Issac Carree, Travis Green and so many to name. They not only showed love through song but all sharing personal stories of how Shiz touched there life in a special way.
The most beautiful part of the ceremony was after a video that played when Shiz talking about writing a song for Michael Jackson and how the song was all about the love that he had for his wife April, and how MJ introduced himself to April all in hopes to make Shiz look good. That moment was funny and full of laughter, that what Shiz was all about making others smile. Then all of a sudden April his loving wife came up with such grace and peace and honored the man that she had loved for more than two decades. She told a room full of family, friends and love ones that she was committed to carrying the torch in his honor. Our prayers continue to go out to April, Jett, and his other two sons and the entire family. We miss you already brother, we love you LaShawn.
