According to a statement, “Big Freedia’s Bouncing Beignets” proceeds were given to non-profit organizations in NOLA including No Kid Hungry, which helps to feed youth who are marginalized.

Big Freedia is grateful to those who came out to support the effort.

“Honored to be partnering with iconic ice cream makers @benandjerrys on my new bouncin’ beignets ice cream!!!” she wrote in an Instagram post about the ice cream. “Thank u to everyone who came out today!!”

Freedia explained that her partnership with the Vermont-based ice cream company came to fruition after she and her team came up with a mock example of the tasty treat and shared it on social media while tagging the company.

“My team and I created our own flavor with a mock Ben & Jerry’s pint and posted it on my Instagram,” the New Orleans native wrote. “We tagged Ben & Jerry’s, hoping they would see it. They did and the rest is history.”

Supporters who came out to try the new flavor were also in for another treat. They received an exclusive listen to Big Freedia’s new upcoming single “Chasing Rainbows” featuring Ke$ha.
