Maya Angelou’s legendary life story is coming to Broadway.You may know Angelou best for her 1969 memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which tells of her story up to the age of seventeen. The one-woman show on Broadway is titled, Phenomenal Woman: An evening with Maya Angelou and is set to debut in 2021. You can expect to hear personal stories new to audiences.

- She was discovered in a strip club in San Diego by a theater group.
- In 1961, she moved to Egypt with a boyfriend and edited for the Arab Observer.
- Angelou died at 86 years old on May 28, 2014, in North Carolina where she taught at Wake Forest University.
