Chris Darden’s Daughter Says Her Father Representing Nipsey Hussle’s Alleged Killer Triggers Bad Memories From O.J. Simpson’s Trial
Attorney Chris Darden’s daughter has recently spoken out about her father representing Nipsey Hussle’s alleged killer.
Chris Darden’s daughter, Jenee Darden has a message for the people who have been sending her vile comments and messages since news broke that her father is defending Nipsey Hussle’s alleged murderer.
Over the weekend, Jenee took to Instagram to express herself about the matter.
She shared a five paragraph post that began with her explaining that she found out about her father’s involvement in the case via social media, like everyone else.
“I was not prepared for this backlash that has triggered bad memories from the O.J. Simpson trial,” Jenee wrote.
Jenee went on to say that her father is a grown man and has been a defense attorney for some time, and she has no say in the cases he takes on.
Jenee said that LA is like a second home to her, she grew up in a community similar to Nipsey Hussle’s and was saddened by the rapper’s death. She also said that she understands why it hurts deeply “when we lose young, talented Black men like him who are committed to empowering people.”
“Instead of attacking me and others who have nothing to do with this case, channel that energy toward continuing Nipsey’s legacy in strengthening our communities and lifting up each other,” Jenee wrote.
“Thank you to those who have been supportive of me. I don’t know how this will all play out, but I will continue to pray for Nipsey Hussle’s family. May they have peace and justice.”
Last week, Jenee posted about Nipsey Hussle twice on Instagram.
First, she posted a photograph of Nipsey Hussle with his longtime girlfriend, actress Lauren London. As a caption, Jenee wrote, “When our Black men are taken from us, the women left behind have to carry a different weight of grief. I feel bad Lauren London is going through this. As she grieves, she has to be strong for her children. I hope she has support. When we go learn to stop killing each other? #NipseyHussle”
The next day, she shared another post with a side by side photo of Nipsey Hussle and Selena, pointing out that both artists were murdered on the same day by “some cruel and pathetic person’s brittle, insecure ego.”
Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot six times in the head and torso on Mar. 31 outside of his apparel store Marathon Clothing in South Los Angeles.
On Friday (Apr. 5) news broke that Nipsey Hussle’s alleged killer, Eric Ronald Holder had retained O.J. Simpon’s former prosecutor as an attorney. Holder, who was charged with killing the “Last Time That I Checc’d” rapper was ordered held on $5million bail after pleading not guilty Thursday (Apr. 4) to murder and attempted murder charges.
This Thursday (Apr. 11), a memorial service will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for Nipsey Hussle. Nipsey Hussle was survived by his two children, Emani and Kross, and his girlfriend, Lauren London.
