Merriam-Webster has come out with the Word of the Year. And it was based everything that has gone on this year.

They chose the word "justice."

If you think about it, it makes sense based on all the drama the country has experienced in 2018. You remember Robert Mueller's investigation of US President Donald Trump; Brett Kavanaugh's (the Supreme Court nominee)  tense hearings in Congress; the fight for social, racial and gender equality - just to name a few.

With that, the one word that sums up the year - 'justice.'
In fact, Merriam-Websters said it saw a 74% spike in look-ups of that word compared with 2017.
Other publications found similar words to sum up the year. Oxford Dictionary named the word "toxic" as it's word of the year. And Dictionary. com chose the word "misinformation" as its winner.
