Fitness Friday – How JD Diva’s Trainer Changed Her Life (Video)
In case you didn’t know, I have been on a fitness journey for some time now – maybe for the last two years or so.
I’ve had trainers before and I’ve set fitness goals before as well, too, but I have to say it’s all about getting your head right. By that, I mean changing the way you think about health. And I’ve learned it is TRULY a lifestyle change.
I don’t snack the same. I don’t eat the same foods. I used to cut out the fried foods, drinking, sweets because I thought that’s what I had to do. Now, I CHOOSE not to eat those things because I don’t have a desire for them anymore.
My trainer helped me see that. I started working out with Roy in the summer of 2017. I have to be honest, I was really reluctant to train with him because I’d seen his boot camp class. Notice I said I’d SEEN his class, NOT participated in it!
Anyway, we did an initial training day and after that I made up in my mind I was going to change! Almost two years later, I did change. I lost almost 20lbs., blood pressure reduced. In fact, I no longer have to take blood pressure medicine. I dropped two pants and dress sizes and I have loads of energy. Oh, yeah and my refrigerator doesn’t even look the same. No high-sugary juices, no sodas, no pre-boxed foods in my freezer!
I”ve been renewed.
Part of that renewal is changing the way I look at food and what foods I choose. For example, I use coconut oil for just about everything now. It’s good for your skin, cooking of course, and digesting to get rid of belly fat! Yes, you can literally take a tablespoon full of coconut oil everyday and see the belly fat roll off. Roy has done it and has seen the belly fat almost disappear. I’m trying that next. In the meantime, you can see a demo of coconut oil and how to make a smoothie using coconut oil on V101.9 Facebook.
Now, Roy isn’t a doctor, but he is a certified personal trainer and has a Masters in fitness training, strengthening and conditioning. in Roy gave me this great recipe for smoothies. It’s really simple and tastes delicious. Check it out! And be sure to check in on my show next Friday for Fitness Friday when we’ll actually get in some fitness!
Here’s Roy’s smoothie recipe.
1 cup Coconut Water
handful of fresh or frozen berries (strawberries, blackberries will do)
1 avocado
1 tablespoon coconut oil (virgin & pressed)
2 scoops of protein powder
Mix in your blender until smooth.
