Darren McCollester/NewsmakersThe Harvard Debate Council hosts an annual competition for diverse students. This even is an amazing experience for minority students to participate and get experience at an Ivy League university. There were 150 applicants from Atlanta, Georgia and only 25 were selected. Once students were chosen, they trained and learned skills for eight months prior to the competition.
The beautiful thing is all of the students were fully funded by their sponsors. Well, how about it was an African-American student from Grady High School who actually beat out his competition (like over 100 of the top students). Congratulations to Jordan Thomas for winning first place! Good luck on his senior year!
