So I was talking to friend recently and she was really feeling down. She says she was in a funk. But a month before, she was all hype - she was all in love with boo. He was acting right, her family was doing great, she'd just gotten a promotion...all was well with the world.

She came to me down in the dumps. So I asked, "What's your God-life been looking like lately?"  She admitted she hadn't really been as connected as she'd like to be. Not doing her daily devotion  -  kind of ignoring God. God has a way of getting your attention and bringing you back to him. When you stay connected with God you can weather the storm. When you stay connected with God, he'll shift your perspective when things aren't going so well. You will look at it those situations in a different way because you know He's always brought you through them.

After talking with my friend, I also realize that sometimes when God puts it in you to minister to someone, he's  also ministering to you. I, too, needed to be reminded that staying in constant alignment with God shouldn't happen only when there's trouble, but it's in staying aligned with Him that I am stronger in times of trouble.

So much for being a "Fairweather Believer."
