People Think Donald Glover May Have Plagiarized “This Is America”
Oh, c’mon!
Childish Gambino, AKA Donald Glover is being accused of ripping off New York’s Jase Harley, and his 2016 single called “American Pharoah.”
You can see where there are some similarities but it doesn’t seem like it’s plagiarism, it more so seems like the song might have inspired “This Is America,” that is, if Glover had heard the track prior to creating his.
Jase isn’t harboring any bad feelings toward the issue, telling people that he won’t take legal action. He was quoted by HipHopDX saying “nah all artist get inspired by others.. artists being thirsty for bread is why ppl don’t wanna credit anyone for inspiration. It’s all love and support from me, glad if my record influenced his.”
According to Gambino’s management, Fam Rothstein, he says that “This Is America” has been in the works for 3 years, and he has the ProTools files to prove it. He has since deleted his tweet, which had some choice words which included “every white blogger,” and “f**k you and your moms, and your future fetuses.”
