I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon. Over 300 of us were there were three women who have 'Gone Beyond". That's part of the Girl Scouts slogan #GoBeyond. It's all about encouraging girls and women to not only think big, but DO big.

I was forced to think about my own way of 'Going Beyond', especially after hearing from the keynote speaker Mae Jamison who was the first African-American woman to go into space. Jamison challenged us all to answer this question: 'What difference does it make to say you were the FIRST if you don't share your experience and what you've learned with others to help them?"

She's right. What's the point of boasting about your accomplishments if you're not helping someone else along the way? Wouldn't that really be going beyond if you are able to pour into someone else and their dreams?
