Janine has frequently made guest appearances on various television affiliates
including ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.
As a radio personality, Janine has interviewed multiple celebrities from L.L. Cool J., Janet Jackson, and Alicia Keys to national dignitaries including former President Barack Obama. Nearly 15 years ago, Janine started Girl Talk Foundation after having candid conversations with young girls in the Charlotte school system. What she learned would be shocking to most, but Janine did not shy away from the challenge to help the girls. Instead, Janine invited girls (no parents) to have a ‘real’ girl talk’ session led by subject-matter experts. Her first ‘girl talk’ session attracted 200 girls.
Today, Girl Talk offers two youth empowerment programs for girls ages 11-16 designed to give them a safe space to express themselves, get positive information and develop emotional intelligence that will allow them to excel in the classroom and beyond. Its’ 18-week “Tailoring Teens for Success” curriculum has graduated nearly 400 girls in the Charlotte area with % of graduates enrolling in college. The program is now on target to be delivered to area middle and high schools. Girl Talk’s annual Prom Project™, a collection of gently used and new prom dresses for high school girls, has helped more than 6,000 girls
receive free prom attire and learn valuable etiquette and prom safety lessons. Janine’s vision for Girl Talk is for every girl to become a self-aware, self-managed and socially competent woman.
Janine is from Greensboro, NC and a proud graduate of NC A&T State University. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Janine lives by the motto: “Once you discover your greatness, you can be greater than great.”
