Preston Miles, native of Washington, DC, has always loved music and so he pursued his interest in the communications field in Greensboro, NC. He later decided to move to Charlotte, NC where he captured the hearts of the Jazz audience while hosting Charlotte's Smooth Jazz on WCCJ-(92.7). After leaving the broadcasting profession in 1998 to pursue other interest, he quickly realized that his passion for music and radio was to great to ignore. Since joining the WBAV team in 2003, Preston has mastered the ability to escort lovers of all ages into the "Essence of the Love Zone". The "Essence of the Love Zone",(as defined by Miles), is simply, "relaxing my audience", and "doing what I can musically to make their day a little better". For his hard work and dedication, Preston was awarded the "Jock of the Year" award for 2005 from WBAV-FM.

Motivated and inspired by jazz artist Miles Davis and Jazz music from the 50's, 60's and 70's, Preston is excited about the future release of his very own CD which will be a collaborative collection of Jazz, Smooth R&B and Neo Soul. Miles and his circle of musicians can be found providing entertainment for various radio station events, private parties and Jazz venues around the Charlotte area. Hit performances include songs of the past such as "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole and songs as recent as "Cant Stop Loving You" by Kem.

Preston enjoys listening to his personal favorites "If Only For One Night" by Luther Vandross and "Blue in Green" by Miles Davis; watching movies "Boomerang" (Eddie Murphy) and "Live and Let Die" (Roger Moore as James Bond) and reading "Nat king Cole" by (Daniel Mark Epstein) and "A Call to Conscience" (land mark speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.). Other interest include, poetry, art, music, theater, travel, performing, cooking gourmet meals, spending time with family and working out at the gym. 

When asked the question, "What would you be doing if you weren't in radio?" Preston responded, "STANDING IN A GRITTY, SMOKE FILLED, CHILLED OUT JAZZ BAR IN NEW YORK WITH A TIGHT BAND SINGING "MY FUNNY VALENTINE".
