A Ram Truck Super Bowl ad featuring Rev. Martin Luther King Sunday night received major backlash on Black Twitter referring it was ridiculous and absurd. The commercial shows people doing service-oriented work over a sampled MLK speech, enforcing the slogan Ram Trucks are “Built to Serve.”
Of course Ram’s owner released a statement, describing King's Estate playing "a very important part of the creative process" behind the ad. King's speech which was edited, he goes on to speak
“Seeing people purchasing cars outside their means,” mentioning Chrysler by name.
"Do you ever see people buy cars that they can't even begin to buy in terms of their income?" King said. "You've seen people riding around in Cadillacs and Chryslers who don't earn enough to have a good T-Model Ford. But it feeds a repressed ego."
How do you feel about this Super Bowl ad? I would love to hear your comments!!
