Jordan Peele’s directorial debut could be deemed a success of comedic proportions.
The Key & Peele star wrote and directed the film Get Out, which stars the relatively unknown Daniel Kaluuya, and cost just $4.5 million to make, according to USA Today.
Deadline.com reported that the movie brought in roughly $33.4 million in its opening weekend, making it the third-highest opener for Universal/Blumhouse—ranking behind Split with $40M and The Purge coming in at $34M.|
Get Out earned a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes before opening, and has since dropped to a lowly 99%.
USAtoday.com also reported that exit polls showed a whopping 49% of audiences were under the age of 25.
It’s safe to say that Jordan Peele has a direct line to the funny, and scary, bone of the highly sought after millennial generation.
Tyler Miller is the type of writer that prefers a typewriter.
